Martin Lively
Grand Riverkeeper
Martin Lively is the Grand Riverkeeper with LEAD Agency in Miami, Oklahoma. As the Grand Riverkeeper, he protects Grand Lake and the upper Grand River watershed.
Martin grew up in Miami and has family roots there going back four generations. He has been involved with LEAD Agency’s environmental justice work since the 1990s as a volunteer, a law school public service fellow intern, and a three-year AmeriCorps VISTA.
In his first career, Martin practiced law in Georgia for almost a decade. After coming back to Oklahoma, he renewed his ties with LEAD Agency. Martin is committed to achieving a future for northeast Oklahoma in which its waters not only look clean, but are clean. Martin earned a B.A. in English from Grinnell College and a J.D., Certificate in Dispute Resolution, and a Public Service Fellow Certificate from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
When time allows, Martin can be found backpacking in the Ozarks or traveling the middle of the country on long-distance solo bicycle tours.
